Soundop Privacy Policy

Ivosight Software ("Ivosight", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Soundop ("Soundop" or "the Software") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use Soundop.

Soundop is a Windows application for audio recording, editing, mixing, mastering, and related audio production tasks.

1. Information Collected by Soundop

Soundop collects and transmits limited information when you start a trial or activate a license. This information is used primarily to manage trials and licenses.

The information includes:

  • Device information hash: Soundop generates a hash from certain device information and transmits the resulting hash to our servers. The hash is used to identify a device for trial and license management. The underlying device information used to generate the hash is not transmitted to our servers for this purpose.
  • Machine name: Soundop transmits the Windows machine name when starting a trial or activating a license.
  • IP address: When Soundop communicates with our servers, the IP address associated with the network connection may be recorded in our server event records.
  • Trial start date: When a Soundop trial is started, the date and time associated with the start of the trial are stored on our servers.
  • License key: When a Soundop license is activated, the license key associated with the activation is stored on our servers.
  • Activation date: The date and time associated with a license activation are stored on our servers.
  • Software version information: Soundop may transmit its current version when communicating with our servers, including when checking for a newer version.

The device hash, machine name, IP address, trial start date, license key, and activation date may be associated with one another on our servers for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Collected Information

We use the information collected through Soundop to:

  • Start and manage Soundop trials.
  • Activate and manage Soundop licenses.
  • Verify license activations.
  • Help prevent unauthorized or repeated use of trial licenses.
  • Associate a license activation with a device.
  • Provide and maintain Soundop's online services.
  • Check whether a newer version of Soundop is available.
  • Maintain the security and reliability of our services.

We do not use this information for advertising or behavioral profiling.

3. Audio and User Content

Soundop processes audio, video, project files, and other files locally on your computer.

Your audio recordings, audio files, video files, project files, and other user-created content are not uploaded to Ivosight as part of normal recording, editing, mixing, mastering, or batch-processing operations.

Soundop does not use your audio or other user-created content for advertising, profiling, or training artificial intelligence systems.

4. Trial and License Activation

Starting a Soundop trial or activating a Soundop license requires communication with Ivosight's servers.

When you start a trial or activate a license, Soundop may transmit the device information hash, machine name, software version, and other information necessary to process the request. The IP address associated with the connection may also be recorded in our server event records.

For trial management, we store the device information hash, machine name, and trial start date. Information about the associated network connection may be recorded in server event records, including the IP address.

For license activation, we store the device information hash, machine name, license key, and activation date. Information about the associated network connection may be recorded in server event records, including the IP address.

This information is used to manage trials and licenses and to help prevent unauthorized use.

5. Automatic Version Checking

Soundop can automatically check whether a newer version of the Software is available.

When performing an update check, Soundop may transmit its current software version. The IP address associated with the network connection may also be recorded in our server event records.

The information is used to determine whether a newer version of Soundop is available and to provide update information to the Software.

6. Crash Reports

Soundop may provide an option to send a crash dump when the Software encounters a crash or other serious error.

A crash dump is sent only after you choose to submit it.

A crash dump may contain technical information about the Software, the operating system, the computer environment, and the state of the Software at the time of the crash. Depending on the circumstances, a crash dump may contain information that was present in the Software's memory when the crash occurred.

We use crash dumps to diagnose software problems, reproduce errors, improve stability, and develop fixes.

You are not required to send a crash dump to use Soundop.

7. Information We Do Not Collect

Except as described in this Privacy Policy or when you voluntarily provide information to us, Soundop does not intentionally collect:

  • Your audio recordings or audio files
  • Your video files
  • Your Soundop projects
  • Your documents or other personal files
  • Your contacts
  • Your browsing history
  • Your precise location
  • Your passwords
  • Your financial information

Soundop does not sell personal information.

8. Storage and Retention

The following information collected for trial and license management is stored on our servers:

  • Device information hash
  • Machine name
  • Trial start date, where applicable
  • License key, where applicable
  • Activation date, where applicable

IP addresses associated with communications from Soundop may be stored in server event records.

We retain this information indefinitely to maintain trial and license records, verify previous activations, prevent unauthorized or repeated use of trial licenses, and maintain the security and reliability of our services.

Crash dumps submitted by users may also be retained indefinitely for software development, troubleshooting, and historical diagnostic purposes.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through Soundop and our online services against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Communications between Soundop and our online services use encrypted network connections.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Disclosure of Information

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide and operate Soundop's trial and license services.
  • Provide hosting, infrastructure, security, or other services necessary to operate our systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve software problems.
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or governmental requests.
  • Protect the rights, property, or security of Ivosight, our users, or others.

We do not sell personal information or disclose it to third parties for their own advertising purposes.

11. Your Choices and Rights

Certain information must be transmitted to Ivosight's servers to start a Soundop trial or activate a Soundop license. If you choose not to allow this communication, the corresponding trial or license activation cannot be completed.

Crash reports are optional and are sent only when you choose to submit them.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of your personal information.

To make a privacy-related request, please contact us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

12. Children's Privacy

Soundop is not designed to collect personal information from children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Software.

13. Third-Party Services

Soundop may use third-party services or service providers to provide hosting, infrastructure, security, payment processing, or other services necessary to operate Soundop and its related services.

These service providers may process information on our behalf and are required to handle information in accordance with applicable agreements and laws.

Third-party services may have their own privacy policies. Where applicable, we encourage you to review those policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to Soundop, our services, or applicable legal requirements.

When we make changes, we will update the Effective Date at the beginning of this Privacy Policy.
