Is it possible to edit portions of an audio file in an external edit like Spectralayers and update the file in Soundop after editing?

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion.

And we have implemented the feature in the new version.

There are two commands added to launch the external audio editor and apply changes. And you can also add shortcuts for these two commands.

Please check it out.

Best regards.

It would be awesome tho have this "edit in external audio editor" feature also in the audio file environment, not only in the mixspace.
Also can be interesting to evaluate the possiblity to have 2 external audio editors to choose from.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion.

We understand the benefit of setting more than one external editor, but it seems ambiguous to use an external editor in the audio file editor. We are not sure of the process that would make it useful.

Best regards.

Thanks for the reply, but sometimes (quite often here) it's very useful to have fast access to other standalone apps to do some scpecialistic processes, just i.e. Harbal, analizers, track rebalance in RX, and so on.
Of course, unless you plan to integrate these features in the future...  Big Grin
Anyway my request was done because the feature is already available in the Mixspace environment, so why not to extend (as is it?) it in the editor? (or maybe it's not so straightforward  Undecided )
Regards.

Hi,

Thanks.

We are not very clear about the behavior of "edit with external audio editor" in the audio file editor. It may include a step of saving the file before open the external editor. And add a record of "apply source change" to editing history after applying changes. Such a step is required to keep the integrity of editing history.

We will consider adding the feature if it is helpful to you and the behavior is what you expected.

Best regards.

It would be interesting, also in light of the another thread that says "no ARA implementation planned".
There are some "effects" of modifications that are not available as EFX plugin, i.e. Izotope RX8 "Guitar denoise".
Or match EQ curve with Harbal. Something like this, that normally needs to save, close, load the software, save, close, then reopen Soundop, load...
Loosing then, as you said, the whole editing history (and quite some time to do all the aforementione operations...)

Many thanks for the replies.
