some feature suggestions
I can reproduce the workspace bug like this:

1) install Soundop 2.1.3.1.
2) edit your custom workspace in Audio File editing by adding and deleting panels to your liking, update worspace. check that it's working by deleting some panels, then reset workspace
3) install Soundop 2.1.4.1.

-> Custom worspace settings are instantly gone for the selected workspace. Reset workspace or loading after switching to default one does not bring them back. However if I install older version (Soundop 2.1.3.1.) again, I can then reset my custom workspace and bring back my settings. So this is dependent on upgrading version somehow. I have upgraded my computer and installed everything from a clean slate few months back so I shouldn't have any ancient preferences files left either.

For the playback start fade in:

Try creating for example a 80Hz sine wave and start playback mid-cycle. I hear a snap. I first noticed this while listening to some of my bass heavy ambient mixes. Low frequency content with longer waveforms might need longer fade times to not snap?

Good day!
When you right-click on the ‘Video’ panel, the ‘Export Video’ option becomes available.
This is a very useful function. Is it possible to customise export parameters?

Hi,

Thank you for your suggestion. Which parameters would you like to customize?

Best regards.

I would like to be able to keep the original bitrate of the video, or change the bitrate.
And most importantly - the ability to select bitrate and other audio parameters.

For some reason, I seem to still get that snapping sound when starting playback in Audio File editor.

For using monitoring FX, it would be convenient if that specific effect chain would not be reset every time Soundop is restarted, but would rather retain it's state as a global setting. This is the default behaviour for Reaper for example. The logic for this is that monitoring FX are not used based on file or "session", but as a more permanent setting for all your editing and listening. It compensates for your listening environment, which usually does not change based on the material you are working on. So monitoring FX chain should need modification only when you actually change your monitoring devices (headphones, speaker setting etc.). If you have to load this chain every time you start using the software, it perhaps beats the purpose.

One thing I started to wonder is if it's possible that Soundop resets panel and/or toolbar button settings when installing new versions of software? I remember going through all the toolbar buttons at some point and hiding everything I don't want to see, as well as organizing panels to my liking. For some reason my toolbar has now included all the buttons again and many panels are not shown. I believe I saved a workspace for Audio File editing after these changes, but loading it does not bring the panels back.

What I also find confusing is that if I make changes to panel settings or toolbar buttons and click "update workspace", at first it seems that I can then switch between saved workspaces normally. However if I modify the buttons and visibility of panels, while a certain worspace is selected, I can no longer recall that workspace to the state it was saved earlier. It seems like once a worspace is selected, all the edits you do to your buttons and panels, are saved in it already, without the "update workspace" command. And when you try to recall the previously saved state, it does nothing (as perhaps the modified state is already saved to this workspace?). I wonder if this behavior is connected to how I think I have lost my workspace settings: If software is upgraded while a certain workspace is selected, and some default panel and button settings are then forced on first startup of new software version, the previously selected worspace might get modified and lost therefore?

Sorry for the vague explanation, this is something I remember I have been wondering before as well. It's hard to exactly pinpoint what happens, when you just realize some day that for some reason you can't recall your edited workspace anymore the way you remember using it.

EDIT: I tested this workspace problem by first installing an older version of Soundop, saving some worspace settings and then upgrading the software version. And yes settings for that selected worspace are deleted when you upgrade software. So you lose your workspace when upgrading.

Hi,

We have added support for remembering monitoring effects in the latest version. Please check it out.

Best regards.

Hi,

This problem occurs due to adding a new panel in version 2.1.4. We have improved our implementation in the latest version to avoid this problem. Please check it out.

Best regards.

Hi,

We have increased the fade-in length in the latest version. Please check it out.

Hi,

I installed 2.1.4.2 and tested the worspaces, it seems that something is still not right.

After installing I did the following:

-Used half an hour to organize my workspace in Audio File editing view
-Clicked "update workspace" to save my edits into the chosen custom worspace
-To be cautious, I also saved my edited workspace as a new one using "save as new workspace"
-After saving the backup I selected (loaded) my primary workspace again, just to see that all my edits were gone again, none of them were were there. Selecting my backup workspace now loads all the edits I did, but choosing the original one loads just one that is close to default one and without any of my custom edits.

I'm happy that I saved a backup workspace so I didn't lose all my edits, but at this point it feels too uncertain to use the software for proper work, as you can't be sure if your workspace settings are saved or not or lost at some point.

I think I encountered this same problem a long a go (like years ago) and was wondering where did my edits go. After losing my custom settings I guess I got frustrated and didn't use the software for a while. I think fixing this would be pretty important, because if you lose your custom interface settings randomly, you're not probably going to edit everything again and again to get back to using the software.

Is there a way to manually save and backup your workspace setting files somehow? So you wouldn't lose them altogether when something like this happens.

Cheers, I hope you can find the root cause of this.

Hi,

Thank you for your report.

We have found the bug that caused the problem. Each workspace in Soundop has two states: current state and default state. When performing Update Workspace, Soundop will update the default state. When performing Save as New Workspace, Soundop has not updated the current state of the original workspace. We have released a new version to fix the bug. Please check it out.

Soundop saves workspace settings at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Ivosight\Soundop\Workspace in the Windows registry. You can back up and restore workspaces by exporting and importing the registry.

Please feel free to contact us if you encounter any problems while using Soundop.

Thank you.
Best regards.
