Which license do I have? - tosiabunio - 01-28-2025

I bought Soundop over 4 years ago, at a good discount. I thought I had the perpetual license (I wouldn't buy it otherwise). I occasionally used the program and activated it many times when I upgraded. When I downloaded the latest version 2.X I noticed that the activation required a key and password and I had never got any password along with my serial.

Does it mean my license isn't a perpetual one and it only covered version 1.X? Or should I get an updated activation info at some point but missed it?

I tried to issue a ticket about this twice and never got any reply and I posting this here.

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out.

We have switched to a new license system since version 2.0, which requires a new key. We have received all your two tickets and sent you emails from support@ivosight.com. Please check your junk box. Specifically, if you want to upgrade to the perpetual license with lifetime updates, you can use your original license code as a coupon code.

Best regards.

Thanks, found your replies in the spam folder indeed.

Well, Soundop was an interesting alternative when I bought it for the introductory price but paying again for 2.X version more than I paid for the first time isn't something I'm inclined to do, especially when I own a quite recent version of Sound Forge and a significantly cheaper Reaper purchase gives me multiple years of continuous support. Soundop was an alternative I wanted to know to recommend to my students, but I cannot do it anymore considering your licensing change.

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Soundop's pricing. We modified the licensing model because we want to avoid scheduling paid upgrades in the future. We will release new versions of Soundop as soon as improvements are made.

We appreciate your recommendation of our software.

Best regards.
