I tried to start recording sample material for my new piece today. I'm working in Audio File editor but I can't seem to find a way to monitor the signal being recorded. I can meter the signal and play back the recorder file, but I see no way to listen to incoming signal. Is this really the case or am I missing something obvious? In mixspace mode there is button for every track to easily enable or disable input monitoring.

For simple recording tasks you need the input monitoring button to be available, as messing with your sound card direct monitoring settings is not always convenient. Also if you want to use input FX for recording in Audio File editor, I can't see how you would be able to hear what you are doing, if you can't monitor the input. But perhaps I'm missing something here? I consulted the manual but couldn't find advice there.
